Casablanca is the main gateway to Morocco, the business center and the industrial center of the country.
Casablanca lags a bit on the tourism list compared to the exotic charms of Marrakech and Fez, but it still has many tourist destinations that guarantee its visitors diverse experiences.
Besides the Art Deco buildings and alleys of the old city, visitors can find museums, palaces and the second largest mosque in the world.
In this report, we explore the best tourist places to visit in Casablanca.
1-Mosque Hassan 2
On the beach, behind the northern tip of Casablanca (the old city), the Hassan II Mosque dominates the entire city.
Completed in 1993, it is the second largest mosque in the world, covering an area of two hectares with the world's tallest minaret (200 meters high).
The prayer hall can accommodate about 25,000 worshippers, while the courtyard (which features a retractable roof) can accommodate another 80,000 people.
The mosque provides the opportunity for Muslims to pray on a glass floor, which gives them the unique feeling of praying directly above the sea.
The decor is surprisingly intricate and covers every centimeter of the surface. Non-Muslims can also visit the mosque on guided tours. Everyone is invited to enjoy the beautiful architecture at any time.
